Rail Home

The Rail Home screen is the starting point for a trip including a train reservation. At Rail Home, the left pane lets you search for a trip, and the right pane displays the travel preferences from your profile. The Rail Travel Preferences are located below the Air Travel Preferences.

Note: Not all of your rail travel preferences appear on the Travel Preferences tab. Your profile includes additional Rail Settings that are not necessarily trip specific. Setting your travel preferences from Rail Home affects only the current search. To change the travel preferences in your profile, see Travel Preferences.

The Rail  Home screen has two search options: Round Trip or One Way. Multiple City searches arr not supported for Rail bookings.

To Book a Rail Trip

  1. Click the Travel supertab or select Travel > Start a new trip from the main menu. The Air tab opens in the left pane. Select the Rail tab.

  2. Select the type of trip by clicking the Round Trip or One Way. Page will default to Round Trip.

  3. Enter the city or rail station codes in the From  and To fields.

  1. Enter your departure date in the Departure date field. Type the date, or click the calendar icon and select from the calendar pop-up.

  2. Select your Departure Time from the list.

  3. Enter your Return Date and Time the same way.

  4. Check the Include car checkbox to include a car rental.

  5. Car Pickup Location: You will be prompted to select your Pickup Location.  Unlike Airports, most rail stations do not have car rental locations on site. We recommend you search for off-airport car locations to make your selection.  Type in a city and you will be offered a selection of locations to choose from.   For more information on booking a car go to the Car Home page.  Be sure to check your Car Travel Preferences in the right pane.

  6. Check the Click Include hotel checkbox to include a hotel booking. The Based on Selected Car Option checkbox appears, already checked, which searches for a hotel near the selected arrival rail station.

  7. Check Based on Selected Air Option for more hotel search options. See Hotel Home for hotel search help.

  8. Uncheck the Based on Selected Air Option to see more options in which to search for hotels. See the Hotel Home page for hotel search help.

  1. Click Search By Price to view the search results by price, or click Search by Schedule to view them in chronological order.

  2. Select your Itinerary Preference from the list. Select Suggested Itinerary to have the system pick the best match, or select Custom Built Itinerary to build your own itinerary from a list of options.

  3. In the Travel Preferences tab, set your rail travel preferences for this search. See Rail Travel Preferences for more information.

  4. Click Search. The Shopping Cart opens in the left pane. The contents of the right pane depend on your search options.

  5. If you chose Search by Price and Suggested Itinerary, the Suggested Itinerary screen opens.

  6. If you chose Search by Schedule and Suggested Itinerary, the Rail Schedules screen opens.

  7. If you chose Search by Price and Custom Built Itinerary, the Priced Rail Itinerary screen opens with the Flight Schedules screen available.

  8. If you chose Search by Schedule and Custom Built Itinerary, the Rail Schedules screen opens.
